Parent Information Session:
On February 17, 2026, CHES welcomed families of enrolled students to its inaugural online Parent Information Session, delivered in partnership with Skyline Education, marking an important step in strengthening connections between students, families and the Centre for Higher Education Studies.
The session was designed to support parents in navigating the senior secondary and post‑school landscape, with a particular focus on understanding pathways, expectations and how they can best support their high‑ability student throughout their learning journey.
The session started with CHES-specific key information from Principal Stewart Milner, VCE Wellbeing and Engagement Leader Alan James, and then Leading Teacher Amy Lee. We aimed to build parent understanding of the unique characteristics of CHES and shared the best ways to work in partnership with us to help their student(s) with completing our VCE subjects and/or Higher Education Studies (HES).
We then turned proceedings over to our partner Skyline Education, who assembled a fantastic team of panellists including high-ability students (one of whom was part of the first group at CHES) and experienced educators from the high-achievers space. They shared useful study skills, their own experiences working in educational environments, and discuss the different pathways open to students at the end of their schooling. The session emphasised the importance of strong collaboration between school, student and home, reinforcing the shared responsibility in fostering confidence, resilience and informed decision‑making.
Feedback from families was positive, with parents valuing the clarity, practical advice and opportunity to engage directly with educators and partners. Parent Teacher Interviews at CHES
Parent Teacher Interviews are a crucial opportunity to connect, share student achievements and growth, and discuss learning goals and next steps together. By holding interviews online, we enable families to connect with us irrespective of where they live in Victoria. Our aim is to make it more convenient for parents and carers to take part in these important conversations. We look forward to sharing each student's progress with their families while continuing to work together to support their growth, wellbeing, and success.
Study Skills Webinar
Our semester 1 Study Skills Webinar brought together students and parents to explore practical, evidence-informed strategies for effective learning, wellbeing, time management, and exam preparation. The session was led by four CHES alumni from our class of 2025, who shared their experiences, insights, and advice for successfully navigating senior secondary studies, with a focus on time management, study approaches, effective note-making, and preparing for SACs and SATs.
By attending together, students and parents developed a shared language around study habits and learning strategies. The webinar also strengthened connections between families and the school, reinforcing our partnership in supporting student growth, independence, and success. Through the perspectives of our alumni, participants gained valuable insights into the habits and approaches that can help students thrive both during their studies and beyond.
