At CHES, our programs have continued to expand, now supporting around 1,000 students statewide through a flexible hybrid model combining live online learning with on-site experiences.

Higher Education Studies (HES) through CHES: 

We partner with various Victorian universities to offer a broad range of HES subjects. These subjects contribute to a student’s ATAR and may also provide university credit. Our innovative hybrid-flexible approach allows students to remain enrolled at their secondary school while studying one HES subject through CHES as part of their VCE program. This includes options to study online each week, attend CHES on-site, and visit university campuses at times.

CHES acts as a bridge between schools and universities, connecting students, faculties, and high-achieving students statewide. Students remain enrolled at their base school while studying through CHES, gaining access to masterclasses and mentorship.

VCE subjects through CHES: 

We are proud to offer VCE subjects to high-achieving students in government schools across Victoria, including students in metropolitan, rural, regional, and remote areas and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. We’re expanding access to these subjects to an even more diverse group of students than ever before. Through our innovative ‘hy-flex’ approach to teaching and learning, students remain enrolled at their school and undertake a VCE study through CHES, as a part of their overall VCE program.

To accommodate as many eligible students as possible, our subjects are available through a hybrid and flexible approach, with opportunities to study online and on-site at CHES. Our cornerstone belief at CHES is that high-ability students can flourish and realise their potential through the opportunities we offer to extend, deepen and accelerate their learning.

We specialise in:

Students currently studying Units 1 & 2 at CHES who intend to continue into Units 3 & 4 next year do not need to submit a new application, as they have already received a short continuation form from us.

However, as students plan their studies for next year, we encourage them to consider whether they would benefit from undertaking an additional CHES subject. In 2027, we will offer our largest range of opportunities yet, including the 38 Higher Education Studies (HES) above, in partnership with leading Victorian universities, along with an expanded range of VCE subjects. For parents, if you would like to discuss whether an additional CHES subject is the right fit for your child, we’d be delighted to help you explore the options.

We also ask for your support in sharing these opportunities with other families at your child’s school. Many academically high-ability students are not necessarily aware that they can remain enrolled at their local secondary school while studying an additional VCE subject or a first-year university subject through CHES. If you know a student who may benefit from greater academic challenge, we encourage you to let them and their family know that applications are now open.

Applications are not assessed on a first-come, first-served basis, so students may apply at any time before Friday 21 August.
