Staff CPR Training

This week, our staff completed their annual CPR refresher training, with many also updating their First Aid qualifications as part of our ongoing commitment to student safety and wellbeing.

CPR training is completed every year, while First Aid qualifications are renewed every three years. These regular updates help ensure we have trained staff across the school, ready to respond should an emergency ever arise.

Later this year, our students will also have the opportunity to take part in age-appropriate first aid sessions, learning practical skills and building confidence to respond safely in everyday situations. We look forward to sharing more about this program in Term 4.

Working With Children’s Check (WWCC) Reminder

Parents and carers are reminded that all adults require a current WWCC in order to volunteer in classrooms and attend camps and excursions.

WWCC are valid for 5 years and are free for volunteers to apply for.  You can apply, renew and check your existing status by visiting https://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/ .

We regularly  encourage volunteers in classrooms and on excursions. Even if it is not something you have previously considered, it can be useful to have and we encourage you to apply.

Once your card arrives, bring it to the school office where the staff will take a copy and add you to our WWCC register.

Child Safe Expectations for Volunteers at Buninyong Primary School

At Buninyong Primary School, keeping children safe is our top priority. All volunteers play an important role in helping us create a safe and supportive environment.

If you’re volunteering at school, you’ll need to:

  • Have a current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Sign and follow our Child Safety Code of Conduct – this means always acting professionally, never being alone with a child out of sight of others, and treating everyone with respect
  • Follow staff instructions and school procedures at all times
  • Report any safety concerns to a staff member straight away
  • Sign in at the office and wear a visitor badge while at school

Thank you for helping us keep our students safe. If you’re not sure about anything or need more information, please speak to a staff member or contact the office.

Bunjil Awards

Bunjil awards recognise student achievement and those who display our school values of being respectful, responsible and kind. Well done! All of our weekly winners enjoyed a hot chocolate or zooper dooper with a principal. This process is always a great chance for us to hear from the kids and ask them some questions about our school.
