Principal's Report

There is a place for everyone at Beaumaris — and at Beaumaris, everyone can find their place in the world.

2027 Course Selection

The past fortnight has been an exciting one as students and families explored the many pathways available for 2027. Our VCE Expo and Course Selection Evening provided Year 9 and 10 students with the opportunity to speak directly with teachers about subject offerings and future pathways. Thank you to our Year 12 students Judah S and Haeley H (VCE General) and Harvey K (VCE VM), who shared their VCE experiences, subject selection insights and advice on achieving their best.

Thank you to Ms Kirk, Ms Casley, Ms Jacobs, Mr Scully, Ms Arnold and Mr Crameri for coordinating the evening, as well as the many staff who contributed to making the event such a valuable experience.

It was also pleasing to see so many Year 8 families attend our Year 9 Course Information Seminar, as students begin selecting their 2027 specialisms and shaping the next stage of their learning journey.

Careers Masterclass

Year 12 students participated in a Careers Masterclass during last week's Beyond session, taking important steps towards their post-school pathways. Students explored tertiary course options, reviewed key VTAC timelines, created their Unique Student Identifiers (USIs) and began preparing for career interviews and their VTAC profiles. These sessions are designed to equip students with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills they need as they prepare for life beyond secondary school. Thank you to Mr Crameri and our Careers Team for their ongoing support in preparing our students for their futures.

Kiwanis Bunnings BBQ Volunteering

On Friday 31 July, a group of Year 9 and 10 students volunteered on behalf of Kiwanis International at the Bunnings Moorabbin BBQ fundraiser, supporting local community initiatives through fundraising and service. The experience provided students with the opportunity to further develop teamwork, communication and customer service skills while making a positive contribution to the wider community. We thank our students for representing the college with enthusiasm, responsibility and professionalism.

Year 9 Community Connections Program

Our Year 9 students have commenced their Community Connections program as part of their Beyond sessions, putting their skills and strengths into action through a range of community placements and projects. Students are volunteering and contributing to local primary schools, kindergartens and the Beauy Big Afternoon Tea, while developing practical skills, building meaningful connections and discovering how they can make a positive contribution to their community. It is wonderful to see our students embracing these opportunities to learn beyond the classroom, and I look forward to seeing the impact they continue to make throughout the program.

Student Leadership Conference

It was a pleasure to join our student leaders for our second Student Leadership Conference, alongside student leaders from Black Rock Primary School and Beaumaris North Primary School. The conference provided a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on their leadership goals, share ideas and build connections across our school communities.

I particularly enjoyed taking part in a Q&A panel alongside our Business Manager, Ms MacDonald, and College Captains Imogen and Judah, where students asked thoughtful questions about leadership. It was wonderful to see our young leaders engaging so confidently and continuing to develop the skills that will support them both at school and beyond.

A big thank you to Ms Hunter-Smith and Mr Ardi for their work in organising the day.

As we move further into Term 3, our attention will increasingly turn towards supporting our Year 12 students as they prepare for their final weeks of classes, milestone events and the examination period ahead. I encourage all students to make the most of the support available and to continue striving towards their goals.

With an exciting calendar of events ahead, I look forward to seeing many of our families at upcoming college events and, as always, to spending time with our students around the school.
