We are excited to let you know that our school is participating in the Premier’s Reading Challenge again this year! An introduction from the Victorian Premier, Jacinta Allen, can be found here.
The Challenge is a wonderful opportunity to encourage a love of reading in children. It is not a competition, but a personal challenge for each student to read a set number of books by the end of the Challenge period. Students from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or experience 30 books, while students in Years 3–6 aim to read 15 books independently.
Reading can take many forms—students might read independently, share books with a family member, or listen to stories. Every book counts towards their total!
How families can support at home:
Encourage a variety of texts (picture books, novels, information books)
We are thrilled to see so many students already embracing the Challenge and developing positive reading habits.
