Premier's Spelling Bee Regional Final

On Friday 22nd August, William from Stage 2 and Kingston from Stage 3, represented our school at the Premier's Spelling Bee regional final.

William showed confidence and determination as our Junior stage finalist, reaching to Round 7 in a very tough competition. Being a Year 3 student and spelling words such as convene, threadbare, symmetry, indignant and intrigue was a feat in itself. William was unfortunately out after he was given the word 'intermittent'. He should be so proud of his outstanding achievement and we look forward to seeing him participate once again next year.

Our Stage 3 finalist, Kingston, was nervous but composed. The quality of the participants and their knowledge of the list of words was extraordinary. Kingston battled through the rounds gaining confidence each round. Students were eliminated yet Kingston stayed focused eventually beating the entire field of students and becoming Peakhurst PS's first regional finalist. Kingston was shocked and lost for words. What an amazing achievement to a very worthy and deserving student. Kingston will take part in the State Spelling Bee later in the year. We wish you all the best of luck Kingston!
