Education Support Personnel Day

On Wednesday we paused to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of our dedicated Education Support (ES) staff. Our ES staff are at the heart of our school, our administration team - Jessie, Tania, Jo and Nahla and our integration aides - Aimee, Bianca, Jess, Nadia, Nicky and Zey.

Their work often begins long before the first bell rings and continues well after the school day ends. They greet students with warm smiles, provide encouragement during difficult moments, support classroom instruction and keep daily operations running smoothly.

Their dedication and care make a lasting impact on students, families and staff alike. We extend our sincere appreciation to all education support personnel for the countless ways they support our students, staff and community.

Tabloid Sports

We were blessed with beautiful sunshine today as students participated in our annual House Tabloid Sports event.

The vibrant sea of Blue, Green, Pink and Yellow was a wonderful sight, and it was especially pleasing to see the encouragement and support within each group continue to strengthen house spirit and foster connections between students across different year levels.

A balance of activities designed to earn house points, alongside others focused on building teamwork and collaboration skills, remains a valued feature of this multi-age event. Thank you to Tom and Paul for supporting our House Captains to plan such a fun and engaging range of activities, and to the additional Grade 6 students who assisted in running the 16 stations.

Term 2 AEU Campaign Actions

As mentioned in an earlier newsletter, the Australian Education Union (AEU) is continuing its campaign actions, with further stop-work action planned for this term.

This round of stop-work action will involve members from schools within the same geographic area ceasing work for half a day. For our school, this is currently scheduled to take place next Wednesday 20 May. However, a two-week pause on the half-day stop-work action was put in place, and that period concludes today. At present, it remains unclear whether next week’s stop-work action will proceed.

Further information will be shared with families as soon as it is confirmed.

Next Pupil Free Day

A reminder that next Friday 22 May is a pupil free Curriculum Day. On this day, staff will be working on mid-year student reports and undertaking a range of team-based and cross-level moderation activities as part of the process of triangulating data to assign students with learning progression points in the core curriculum areas.

As part of the ongoing industrial action, there will be no written comments accompanying progression points in Term 2 reports. Reports will be made available to parents and carers via Compass during the final week of this term. Parents and carers will also have the opportunity to discuss their child’s report during Parent/Carer-Teacher Interviews, which will take place in Week 2 of Term 3.

For families requiring care on this Curriculum Day, TeamKids will be offering a program for students.

District Cross Country

Congratulations to the 49 students from Grades 4-6 who competed in the District Cross Country event held at Bundoora Park yesterday.  Well done to the seven students who have now progressed to the next level!
