FUNdraising

We understand there has been some discussion amongst parents and carers regarding the Mother’s and Special Person’s Day celebrations, and we appreciate families taking the time to share their thoughts and feelings. We also recognise that some children and families may feel disappointed by the change, particularly when these traditions hold special meaning.
Earlier this year, changes to fundraising, engagement events, and days of recognition and celebration were communicated at Parent/Carer Information Nights, included in the school newsletter, and shared via the two-year calendar of events circulated to the school community and published on the school website.
We would like to provide some context around the decision. Like many school communities, we continue to experience challenges with volunteer numbers and broader community participation when organising events and celebrations. While support for larger events such as the school fete is strong, other activities such as stalls, trivia night, and icy pole days often rely on a small group of parents and carers who consistently give their time and support.
The decision to combine celebrations was made with the intention of creating an inclusive event that is both achievable and sustainable, given the current level of volunteer support. This decision was made in consultation with school staff and informed by feedback from parents and carers through last year’s fundraising survey.
School community events are only possible through the support, time, and involvement of families, and we are sincerely grateful to those who contribute in any way. If there is strong interest in reinstating separate Mother’s Day and Special Person’s celebrations in the future, we would warmly welcome additional community involvement to help make these events possible.
Moving forward, if families have strong feelings or feedback about school events and celebrations, we encourage them to share this through formal feedback opportunities such as surveys or by speaking directly with the school or committee. Open and respectful communication helps us better understand the views of our community and continue to strengthen a positive, connected school environment for everyone.
