Library Resource News

Welcome to the College Resource Library!

THE LIBRARY CELEBRATES THE PARIS OLYMPICS

The Olympic countdown is on, and the college library has been celebrating the Paris Olympics with a variety of engaging activities and resources! Students have explored a spotlight on Paris book features and read about the rich history of the Olympic Games through our dedicated fact wall.

Our medal tally has kept everyone updated on the latest achievements, and our athlete book displays continue to highlight inspiring stories. Our LMERC storytime books feature texts that encompass the varied backgrounds and cultures of the games to share with our students. The live TV broadcasts of the events have allowed everyone to come together and enjoy the latest events, replies and highlights. We encourage all students to join us in the library to celebrate this global sporting event and immerse themselves in the spirit of the Games!

MS READATHON

The MS Readathon is back this August! This great cause raises awareness, while promoting reading. The library will provide students with book tally sheets to record the number of books read (Prep-12), these can be filled out both at home and school.

Each page completed and filled out will result in a prize, and the student with the most pages completed by the end of the month will be in the running for a grand prize! Students can collect tally sheets in their library borrowing sessions or pay a visit to the library.

BOOKTACULAR IS ALMOST HERE

Celebrate Book Week with us this August 26th - 30th. The annual celebration of everything literacy, books, illustrations and storytelling is a week of excitement for students. This year's theme chosen by the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) is “Reading is Magic.” It will become the focus of our special Book Week event, ‘BOOKTACULAR!’ Students from Prep to Year 12 will have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities including live performances, author presentations, workshops, Book Fair, and the Booktactular Expo displays.

The next Channels edition will feature a full breakdown of this event including the program and much more!
