Farewell to our School Council President
– Mr Tom Cain, Principal
After six years as School Council President, we farewell Gareth Lewis, who has been a valued member of the Port Melbourne Primary School community for 16 years. With his youngest child now graduated from PMPS, we thanked Gareth at our assembly and at his final School Council meeting this week.
During his time on School Council, including six years as President, Gareth has made a lasting and positive impact on our school. Many of the facilities we enjoy today – including our gym, oval, mini soccer pitch and STEM centre – were completed during his time here.
Gareth has generously given his time, energy and passion to strengthening and improving the Port Melbourne Primary School community, and we are incredibly grateful for his dedication and leadership.
“The past six years as President have been filled with challenges and triumphs. Together, we've navigated building projects, curriculum changes and even global disruptions – who can forget online learning during COVID – always keeping the best interests of our students at heart. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved as a council and as a community.” – Gareth Lewis, PMPS School Council President (2020–2026)

At assembly, Gareth delivered a heartfelt message:
“This is an amazing community. I've loved this school – it’s done so much for my kids and my family. I encourage you all to give back. If you give back, you'll receive so much in return from this community – it truly is an amazing one.” – Gareth Lewis
On behalf of the entire PMPS community, we thank Gareth for his outstanding contribution and wish him and his family all the very best for the future.
