What's happening around school

The year has started on a high! Here's a snapshot of the fun extra activities that are happening around school, including: lunch time clubs, a new student-led radio station, Modern Choir, and students are showing a caring spirit.

Lunch time clubs

Coming soon to PMPS… PPR – Proud Port Radio!

We are thrilled to announce the launch of PPR – Proud Port Radio, an exciting new student-led radio show coming soon to PMPS!

Run by some of our incredibly talented Year 5 students, PPR will be broadcast during lunch eating time and promises to be a fun and engaging addition to our school day. Each short episode will feature school news, games, quizzes and plenty of entertainment to keep our listeners smiling while they enjoy their lunch.

We are especially excited to share that PPR has its very own professionally composed jingle! A huge thank you to our amazing parents, Steve and Angus, for composing and producing this fantastic track. We are also so proud of our superstar PMPS students — Felicity, Tove and Bonnie — who provided the awesome backing vocals.

Be sure to listen out for PPR on the school airwaves very soon. We can’t wait to share it with you! Stay tuned…

Prep/Year 5 Buddies

Our Prep students met their Year 5 buddies for the very first time last week. Our Buddy Program gives our older students the chance to grow as mentors while providing friendship and wellbeing support to our youngest students.

Student philanthropists

A group of our Year 3 students have been consistently demonstrating the joy of giving back. Over the past year, Olivia, Violet, Jasmine and Harriette have truly put the “fun” into fundraising – running lemonade, fruit and photo booth stalls and generously donating the proceeds to the school’s Library Fund.

Miss Nicole, our librarian, is incredibly grateful for their thoughtful contributions, and the entire school community is now enjoying the new books purchased through their efforts.

Modern Choir

Many thanks to the Choir families who have signed up to express interest in joining Modern Choir. It's fabulous knowing students will be available to participate in the April 11th performance that is happening in the middle of the Term 1 holidays.

Your speedy responses were positive … although some students will be away, many will be available to perform in South Melbourne on the day, so we are going ahead. Keep an eye on the newsletter for confirmed details of the ArtsBus-organised event.

In the meantime, I look forward to making music with all members of Modern Choir at rehearsals on Tuesday lunchtimes.
