Kitchen Garden

We have had a busy fortnight in Kitchen Garden. The Year 3-5's cooked Fried Rice. It was a huge hit, with everyone coming back for more. If you would like to make it at home, please see the link below with the recipe. We used silver beet, bok choy, spring onions and asparagus from the school garden.

The Year 3-5 students were in charge of taking photos. Enjoy the amazing photography!
This week it was back to the junior students’ turn to cook and the seniors worked in the garden. We planted out many of the seedlings we had raised from seeds, plus a few contributed by Billie and Maggie’s Grandma. We planted sweet corn, tomatoes, basil, parsley, carrots and sunflowers. In a busy session, the students also cleaned out the chook shed, cleared out some parsley, harvested potatoes, bottled some worm juice and put out some straw mulch.
Years F-2 this week used potatoes, asparagus and parsley from the garden, plus lots of eggs from our chooks, to make a delicious frittata, which was enjoyed by all.
The students also found some welcome swallows nesting under the school rotunda.
There are three little babies in there nesting.
