Years 3 - 5

With the Fleece and Flower Show fast approaching, we have been busy putting the finishing touches on our art pieces and projects, ready to showcase the wonderful work our students have been creating!

In Art, our focus has been on completing a 3D piece, a paper mâché vase. This has been an exciting, creative and sometimes messy process! Students have used a range of recycled materials, including cardboard, bottles and balloons, to construct their unique vase shapes. It has certainly been a labour of love, but we are almost ready to move on to the final stage, decorating our vases with colourful, abstract patterns and designs. We can’t wait to see the finished masterpieces!

In Science, we have become space explorers, researching the planets, spacecraft and fascinating features of our Solar System to create informative posters. Students have uncovered some incredible and interesting facts, broadening their understanding of the wonders of space and the amazing phenomena within our Solar System. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity grow as they discover just how fascinating our universe is!

Last week, we were fortunate to be invited by Landcare to participate in a community project at Settler’s Walk along the Wannon River. Our students rolled up their sleeves, slipped on their gumboots and got stuck into planting a variety of water plants to help improve and conserve the local biodiversity and ecosystem for the future. Our students did an outstanding job, planting over 800 plants! This was a fantastic effort and a wonderful opportunity to contribute to our local community and environment. Well done, everyone!

With Halloween just around the corner, we got into the spooky spirit with a fun and creative art activity! Students transformed their names into skeletons, using the letters of their names to form the main body of their spooky creations. From quirky skeletons to wonderfully wacky designs, the results were spook-tacular! It was fantastic to see students get creative and bring their names to life in such a fun and unique way. Who knew spelling your name could be so spooky?
