Specialist Classes

ITALIAN
The Grade 1/2 students worked on the Days of the Week in Italian. They listenend to the story again in Italian and were able to identify words in the story such as luna (moon), bruco (caterpilla), farfalla (butterfly), sole (sun), foglia (leaf), uovo (egg), bozzolo (cocoon). Students are also learning about numbers throughout the Very Hungry Caterpillar unit.
The Grade 4-6 students are working through a unit about holidays (Vacanza!) Last week they were introduced to different types of transport and how to say how they travel in Italian.
SPORT
During Sport this fortnight we have turned our attention to the upcoming Athletics Sports later in the term.
We have had a blast pulling out the high jump mat and experimenting with the 'scissor-kick'. Every student right across the school has had the opportunity to practice their run-up and jumping over the bar. They've all shown that they can wait patiently and listen to instruction when it is their turn. It has been very, very impressive to watch!!
Thank you also to Abby who has used her before-school sporting allotment to give extra opportunities to practice events such as high jump, hurdles and baton changes. We can't wait to see all the children in action at the Athletics event! Stay tuned with more info to come.
ART
For the last fortnight we spent our time busily crafting gorgeous pieces for our Mum's and Special Women.
The F-3 students made a personalised photo and it was heart-warming to see how much care and detail they put into their pieces.
All students right across the school also had the opportunity to make a stunning card. The Foundation students were lucky enough to have their Grade 6 buddies join us for their Art class to help design their cards together. We really hope all the Special Women enjoyed theirs over the weekend!
DIGITECH & RELIGION
This week in Religion, students who finished their assessment task early contributed to a class Blooket! We’ve been using DigiTech skills like logging in, inputting data, presenting and interpreting information and using Blooket as a review tool – and this was a great opportunity for them to combine Religion and DigiTech to create an engaging way to review what we’ve been learning in Religion.
Students have found logging into their Blooket accounts and accumulating points really engaging!
The 3-6 students are learning to add pages to their websites in DigiTech – we’re adding lots of pictures, text, and interesting features to websites in Canva to show off at the Specialist Showcase later in the year.
