Dear parents and carers,

We certainly have had a wintry blast today and it looks like it will continue tomorrow. It’s been good to see students dressing for the weather and remembering to put a rain jacket in their bag.

We know that the level crossing removal project is having an impact on traffic in our local area and the wet weather could add to this. It is important that we continue to prioritise the safety of everyone in our community by taking the extra time to get to where we need to be. We will continue to reiterate the importance of this with our students in classrooms, at assemblies and through other channels.

Mother’s and Special Other’s Afternoon

We look forward to welcoming the Mother’s and Special Other’s in our school community to spend time with our students tomorrow afternoon. Our annual event is a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together in our school.

With the forecasted weather, we have decided to cancel our assembly.

Our school band and choir will perform in the gym, starting from 2:20. This performance is open to all people attending our event. For those who would like to move straight to the planned activities, please meet your child/ren in their classroom at 2:30.

Kingston Junior Mayor

It was terrific to accompany our School Captains today to the annual Kingston Junior Mayor event. The prompt this year was to propose different ways Kingston Council could further engage young people in our community.

Our team proposed to further utilise the Council’s YouTube channel to promote opportunities for young people. Lenny McNaughton delivered our presentation and was supported by Mandy Giles, Charlotte Younger and Jack Wemyss.

We had an exciting ending with Lenny elected to be the Sandpiper Ward representative on the Junior Council.

Thanks to the team at Kingston Council for facilitating the event and Cait Fletcher for supporting our team.

Student Action

Lorelei Niculescu in Year Four has taken action by participating in the World’s Greatest Shave to raise funds and awareness for blood cancer research and support services for patients and their families. Lorelei had her hair cut yesterday afternoon and was sporting a special beanie today to keep her warm. We look forward to hearing more from Lorelei in next week’s newsletter. Thanks for taking action and raising our awareness Lorelei.

Mordialloc College Work Experience Students

We have appreciated having six work experience students from Mordialloc College join us this week. Ava, Alexis, Elliott, Zoe, Mia and Lucy have worked in classrooms across the school, understanding the different roles staff across the school perform each day. Thanks to each of the students for the way you have engaged with our school community and represented your college.

2027 Foundation Enrolments

If you have a child starting school in 2027, enrolments are now open. As of 2026, enrolments have moved online; the link is provided below. When you access the link, you will create an account and enrol your child from the account. This is a new process for schools in our area.
