Exams

It's a busy time in the Class area with examinations for the next two weeks.

In Week 4, ATAR students begin their Semester 1 examinations with Ag Science on Wednesday 13 May and Agribusiness on Friday 15 May. In Week 5 they will sit English on Monday 18 May and finish with Mathematics on Tuesday 19 May.

All Year 12 General pathway students will sit their ESTs. These begin on Thursday 14 May with English, followed by Phys Ed and Math on Wednesday 20 May and Plant and Animal on Thursday 21 May.

We wish all students sitting examinations the very best of luck and encourage them to attend prep for additional revision and support (there is at least one member of the Class team available at every evening prep).

Uni visit

On Wednesday of Week 3, the Class area hosted the annual 'Uni visit'. Representatives from the major WA universities attended as well as those from Lumen, who offer study support hubs and information for students studying in regional areas.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions to individual universities and were given information regarding pathways to applying for university courses and applying for grants.

Happenings from Ms Jury's classes

This term the 12 ATAR students have started their Sheep feed Trial by separating 15 wethers into three groups and feedlotting them on three separate feed rations, to compare weight gain, and eye muscle and fat depth increase. The students currently have one more week to gather results from the trial, before interpreting the data to determine whether, oaten hay, a grain and oaten hay mix or easy one pellets will achieve the optimum results.

The year 11 Animal students have been busy learning about the different types of diseases, how they can spread between humans and animals (zoonotic diseases) and the impact they can have on agriculture and the community. The students have investigated many animal diseases and outbreaks such as mad cow disease, foot and mouth disease, TB and bird flu.
