Trades

The Trades Department has been a hive of activity lately, with lots of hands‑on learning happening across different areas.

Furniture and Engineering projects are well underway, with students busy designing, building, and refining their work.

Construction classes are starting their cubby builds, creating plenty of excitement as projects begin to take shape. At the same time, Automotive workshops are buzzing with students getting stuck into practical tasks and developing real‑world skills.

It’s a busy but rewarding time, with plenty of collaboration, problem‑solving, and learning happening every day.

Trade Drawing

Trade Drawing kicks off a bit later in the term for Year 11 students, reinforcing design process skills, as they begin to think about their major projects. This will enhance the students' knowledge of drawing standards, accuracy, design, and technical details.

Trade Tour

The annual Trade Tour is scheduled to take place later in the term, but with a twist, we are hoping to run two this year, both on the same day. It is an important career‑focused learning opportunity for Year 11 students.

During the tour, students have the chance to visit real industry workplaces and gain firsthand insight into the expectations, standards, and daily routines of apprentices and skilled workers. This experience helps connect classroom learning with real‑world applications and supports informed pathway choices.

There will be an Automotive and Engineering-focused tour with students visiting Bruce Rock Engineering and Mader, where they will engage with industry professionals, observe workplace practices, and build a clearer understanding of employment and apprenticeship opportunities in the trade sector.

The second will have a Construction and Furnishing focus with students visiting the Construction Training Funds and a TAFE.
