PRINCIPAL UPDATE

It is with great excitement that I inform you that School Council approved the resurfacing of the basketball and netball courts at their August meeting. This is a project that is possible due to our community support and commitment to raising funds to ensure our students have the quality of facilities to support them and their engagement here at school.  Funds raised from Chilwell Fair, along with funds raised with Colour Runs, Student Fundraising committee events such as special lunches have allowed this project to come to life.  We are very excited by this and look forward to finalising the planning stage in order to set dates to get the project started.

Watch this space…

We are currently heavily into the planning stages for 2026, and ask that if families are leaving Chilwell, that we are informed of this promptly. As we are at capacity, student numbers determine class structures and staffing that we would like to finalise early in Term 4.

We not only have a talented student group here at Chilwell, but a talented staffing group also.  Sarah Jeffreys is currently in rehearsals for Mamma Mia at the Geelong Performing Arts Centre in October, and I can’t wait to see her in action.  In addition to this Cassie Chappell is in Legally Blonde the Musical, later this year. Congratulations to both staff members and, if you are attending, keep a look out on stage for our very own performers.

Our Student Fundraising Committee is putting on another special lunch on the last day of Term 3.  We are welcoming back the Toastie Truck to Chilwell.  Cheese Toasties are $4 each, and information on how to order toasties is in the School Activities page or via the following link   https://compasstix.com/e/d72vmda1po

All money raised will go towards to Basketball and Netball resurfacing.  This day will also be our Footy Colours Day, and we will be encouraging students to wear their favourite sports teams’ colours.

Don’t forget to place 3:40-4:40pm, Wednesday September 17th in the diary for Student Expos and open classroom afternoon.  More information to come.

Next week we farewell Kim Hamilton who has announced her retirement.  Kim has had an extensive career in education and at Chilwell Primary School.  We thank Kim for her contribution to education and shaping the minds of so many students along her journey.  Students are currently completing farewell booklets for Kim in their classrooms that we will give to her on behalf of the community next Friday.  Whilst we wanted to farewell Kim at an Assembly, we respect her decision for a quieter, less overwhelming afternoon tea, but happily pass on any well wishes that may come our way.

Kind regards,

Meg
