Year 7/8 Basketball

Mixed 7/8 team:
On Wednesday 3rd of September George, Finn, Hudson, Sam, Brianna, Lily, and Eli played basketball in Dimboola against the local school. Levi Linto attended and did a fantastic job umpiring our games. We may have lost 58-28 against some very skilled basketballers, but our team spirit was still high. In the second game we mixed up the teams and tied. Our team was a mix of players with experience and some new to basketball.
Thank you to Mr Irvin and Mrs. Mulraney for taking us. We all had a great day and it was a great experience.
Year 7/8 Girls Basketball in Horsham
We travelled to Horsham and played 4 games of basketball. We lost our first game to a skilled Warracknabeal team and were leading in our 2nd game against Marian College, only to go down by 2 goals at the buzzer. We won against St Brigid's College and then lost to Horsham College. We were a new look team with some players who had played, others who had not played for years and some new to basketball.
Adelle got the most amazing goal just before the siren in our last game and built confidence to dribble down the court.
Ayla was our main ball carrier weaving in and out of players gaining some steals also.
Bridie defended hard every game intercepting passes intended for the opposition and scored some goals.
Gabi was great at rebounding and getting the ball out of defence to the team.
Hannah was great at dribbling down the court and getting many goals.
Ivy was a strong defender using her height to her advantage rebounding both ends and shooting goals.
Scarlett was great at dribbling out of trouble. She was able to block the run of her opponents and steal the ball off them.
Taewyn was great at positioning herself to be a target in offence and defence and scored goals.
Thank you to Alex King who volunteered her time to come and coach the team sharing her wealth of knowledge. Also thank you to Mrs Domaschenz for driving the bus and umpiring our games. She said she was so proud of the way we listened to instructions, built in confidence each game, were competitive and had lots of fun!
