Happenings in the 2/3/4 Classroom

As always it has been a busy time in the 2/3/4 room.

We have been very fortunate to have had an extra (preservice) teacher for 3 weeks helping with all that happens in the classroom. Maya Ross has been teaching a variety of lessons across different subject areas and getting to know all the students, including those in other year levels. Students really enjoyed having Miss Ross teach them and we hope to see her again sometime.

In Maths, students have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes through creative modelling activities using playdough and toothpicks. From spheres and cubes to hexagons and pyramids, learners have been identifying properties and constructing their own shape masterpieces. We’ve also been working on telling the time, with students learning to read both analogue and digital clocks to the hour, half-hour, and quarter-hour. Their confidence is growing as they practise these essential life skills.

In Earth Science our budding geologists have been investigating rocks and their properties. Through observation, sorting, and discussion, students are learning how different types of rocks are formed and where we might find them in our environment. There’s been lots of curiosity and excitement as students examined real rock samples and shared their findings.

The term is flying by, and we look forward to many more learning experiences before the holidays roll around again.
