2025 Maths Competition

In August this year St Mary’s was very proud and excited that 29 students from Years 3 - 6 participated in The Australian Maths Competition.  The competition has 30 questions and covers questions about Basic arithmetic, Fractions and ratios, Algebra and pre-algebra, Geometry, Measurement, Statistics and probability & Problem-solving in Mathematics.  Students from all over Australia enter into it and are allowed 60 minutes to answer the questions.  All students are to be congratulated and ought to be very proud of themselves. We look forward to more students participating in this competition next year.

Well, done!   Mrs Le Hunt

In Visual Arts Year 4 created 3D pumpkins inspired by 92 year old Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Pumpkins and polka dots make her feel happy and calm and remind her that art is joyful.

First we filled a plastic bag with newspaper and used rubber bands and masking tape to section the pumpkin. We then plastered our pumpkin using plaster strips smoothing it out as we went. After it was dry we painted it yellow and added black polka dots in the Yayoi Kusama style.
