Book Week 

In Week 7, the 2026 Children’s Book Week theme, Symphony of Stories invites our students to imagine what it feels like to step inside a vibrant world where characters leap from the page, each carrying their own weird and wonderful instruments in a colourful symphony of tales by creator Briony Stewart. 

On Tuesday 25 August, the Primary Years will celebrate with our Book Week Parade, and our students are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite book or book character. 

Our Scholastic Book Fair will also be open in the Learning Lab from Tuesday 25 August to Tuesday 1 September, offering families a fantastic opportunity to explore new reads and join in the joy of storytelling. Students will also have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair with the class during the day. 

International Boys Nankyu Baseball Association Tournament Tour

We wanted to acknowledge and congratulate one of our students, Harvey J who is currently in Japan on the 12U IBA Boys Tour - the International Boys Nankyu Baseball Assocation tournament tour.  This is a cultural exchange program where baseball players from Australia live with their Billet familys and compete in a World Cup baseball tournament representing Australia as the K2 team. Well done Harvey!

Prep

We have had a fantastic start to Term 3, and it has been wonderful to see our students return to school enthusiastic and ready to learn. There is so much to look forward to this term! In Literacy, students will continue building their reading and writing skills through the Little Learners Love Literacy program as they progress through Stages 4+, 5 and 6, learning more complex letter-sound relationships, adjacent consonants, two-syllable words and new spelling patterns.

They will also be writing recounts, transactional texts and information reports while developing their sequencing and questioning skills. In Mathematics, our focus will be on comparing and quantifying collections to at least 20, addition, subtraction, money, sharing into equal groups and consolidating numbers to 20. In Curiosity, we are excited to begin our Celebrating Differences unit, where students will explore and appreciate the unique qualities, cultures and experiences that make each person special. We are looking forward to another wonderful term of learning, growth and memorable experiences together! 

Year 1

Our Year 1 students have had a wonderful start to Term 3! We've been making the most of the beautiful weather by taking our learning outdoors whenever possible. During maths, students used the tanbark to create equal groups and practice skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s. 

The students loved this task as it was hands-on and engaging. We also enjoyed taking one of our PEP lesson outside, where students worked together in team-building games that encouraged communication, cooperation and inclusion. Alongside these activities, we've been focusing on building a positive classroom community through lessons centred on respect, kindness and teamwork. It has been a fantastic start to the term, and we're looking forward to all the learning and fun still to come.

Year 2

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope all of our Year 2 families enjoyed a restful break and are feeling refreshed for another exciting term of learning. This term promises to be filled with opportunities for students to challenge themselves, build their confidence and discover new ideas. Throughout the term, students will strengthen their mathematical thinking as they explore fractions, develop efficient addition and subtraction strategies, and learn to tell and work with time.

In Literacy, we will continue to build strong readers by developing phonics, morphology, vocabulary and reading fluency, while in Writing, students will unleash their creativity through poetry before crafting engaging narrative stories of their own. Our Curiosity unit will take students on a journey through time as they investigate how life has changed and stayed the same across generations.

By listening to stories, exploring historical objects and interviewing family and community members, students will gain a deeper understanding of life in the past before stepping back in time themselves through an engaging role-play experience, where they will attend school as a student from the 1800s. We are looking forward to another fantastic term of curiosity, creativity and growth in Year 2. 

Year 3

Our Year 3 students have been developing their understanding of multiplication through a range of engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Students have explored multiplication as equal groups, arrays and repeated addition, helping them build a strong conceptual understanding before moving towards recalling multiplication facts with increasing confidence. Through games, problem-solving activities and collaborative tasks, students have practised applying their multiplication skills in real-world contexts while developing their mathematical reasoning. It has been wonderful to see students grow in both their confidence and fluency as they continue to strengthen their multiplication knowledge. 

Year 4

We welcomed our Year 4s back to school for Term 3 with a focus on NAIDOC Week (5th–12th July). The Year 4 students explored biographies to celebrate and learn about the lives and achievements of First Nations Australians. Through reading a range of biographies about influential Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, students developed their understanding of the features of biography texts while learning about the important contributions these individuals have made to Australia.

As part of their learning, students completed a variety of activities, including identifying key information, summarising biographies, and creating biography profiles that highlighted each person's achievements, challenges, and legacy. This learning helped students strengthen their reading comprehension, summarising skills, and appreciation of First Nations histories, cultures, and contributions. 

Year 5

It has been a fantastic start to Semester 2 Sport for our Year 5 cohort! Every Wednesday, all our Year 5 students come together to represent their Houses in an exciting, rotating sports fixture.

This semester, students are rotating through three dynamic sports: Soccer, Dodgeball and Netball. Students not only learn about the skills and rules that make up the sport, but they are also developing broad motor skills, coordination, and spatial awareness.

While scoring goals and winning matches is always exciting, our focus goes far beyond the scoreboard. Each week, teams earn points for how they demonstrate our College values on and off the court. We are looking out for:

• Respect: Honouring the referee's calls, encouraging opponents, and showing great sportsmanship.
• Resilience: Bouncing back after a missed shot and giving 100% effort until the final whistle.
• Relationships: Communicating positively, including everyone, and lifting up teammates.

• Responsibility: Looking after equipment, playing safely, and assisting with set up and pack up.

   

All game scores and values points are tallied up weekly to determine our Year 5 Sport House Champion. We love seeing the energy, teamwork, and school pride on display every Wednesday afternoon. Keep up the amazing effort, Year 5.

Year 6

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope all of our Year 6 students and their families enjoyed a restful and refreshing holiday break and are ready for another exciting term of learning. We have a busy term ahead, with many highlights including Year 6 Camp, House Performing Arts, and our much-anticipated Footy Day. We would also like to congratulate all of our students on the wonderful start they have made to the term.

They have returned with positive attitudes, settled quickly into our classroom routines, and have been demonstrating our College values through their excellent behaviour and commitment to learning. In Maths, students have begun exploring fractions, decimals and percentages. In Reading, we have started our new class novel, How to Bee by Bren MacDibble, and students are already engaged in exploring its unique setting, characters and themes. We look forward to another rewarding term of learning, growth and memorable experiences with our Year 6 students.
