Assistant Principals' Report

Uniform

We kindly ask families to support students in wearing the College uniform in accordance with our Primary Years Uniform Guidelines, available on the College website. This includes ensuring that hair colour remains natural, as extreme hair colours are not permitted under the College's uniform guidelines.

Over the coming weeks, classroom teachers will be having supportive conversations with students about uniform expectations, including hair colour, jewellery and other aspects of the uniform.

We understand that there may be occasions when uniform items are misplaced, outgrown, or require replacement. If a student needs to be out of uniform for any reason, we ask that families please email their child's teacher to let them know. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support in helping our students represent the College with pride.

Curiosity - Mappen Units

This term, our Prep, Year 1, Year 3 and Year 6 Mappen Units will focus on Social Justice. Students will engage in learning experiences that celebrate diversity, fairness and global awareness. These units build empathy, strengthen social understanding and help students appreciate the diverse experiences that shape both our local community and the wider world.

Our Year 2, Year 4 and Year 5 Mappen Units will focus on Perspective. Students will engage in learning that deepens their understanding of Australia’s past and the people who shaped it. Students will build a thoughtful, informed view of Australia’s history and the diverse experiences within it, including those of the First Nations Australians.

Home Reading

It has been great to see students' participation in home reading increase over the first semester of this year.  Students’ regular completion of home reading is one of the most powerful ways families can support learning. When children read consistently, they build fluency, expand vocabulary and strengthen comprehension skills that directly influence success across all curriculum areas. Setting aside 20 minutes each night for reading is a positive reading habit that lasts well beyond primary school. 

Congratulations to Year 1C and Year 6C who were awarded our Reading Rockstar trophies for their outstanding home reading efforts in Term 2.  An excellent effort!

Positive Learning Routines

Congratulations to Prep B and 4B for winning the Positive Learning Routines Trophy for the first week of Term 4. These classes were nominated by our staff and will proudly hold the trophy until our next Primary Years Assembly in Week 5.

At our College, we know that strong learning routines create calm, orderly, and supportive classroom environments where students feel safe, confident, and ready to learn. 

Consistent routines help maximise learning time by reducing interruptions, supporting smooth transitions, and enabling students to focus on their learning. We value routines because they build independence, foster positive behaviours, and contribute to a culture where every student can thrive. Congratulations again to Prep B and 4B for demonstrating our Positive Learning Routines so consistently and setting a wonderful example for others.

Last term, our students collected an impressive 2,825 House Points, demonstrating our College values through their positive actions, effort, and commitment to learning. Congratulations to Goodes House for winning the Term 3 House Competition. It was an incredibly close contest, with Stynes and McGrath only a few Positive Chronicles behind the winning total.

This term, the competition is back on! Students are encouraged to continue earning House Points through their positive behaviour. The student with the highest total in each House will be rewarded with a chip lunch with our College leaders, while members of the winning House will celebrate by wearing their House tops and enjoying an icy pole during the final week of term. We look forward to seeing which House takes out the title this term!

House Performing Arts

We are excited to announce that this year's House Performing Arts theme will be "Together on the Field." This theme was chosen by our students through our Student Representative Committee, and we look forward to seeing each House bring this theme to life through their performances.

The Together on the Field theme is all about teamwork, sport, and celebrating like champions! This year's performance will feature sports-themed championship songs that inspire students to feel excited, strong, confident, and ready to succeed. Through music, movement, and collaboration, students will have the opportunity to showcase their House spirit while celebrating the importance of working together towards a common goal.

This term, we will begin rehearsals for House Performing Arts. Every week, students will meet in their houses to learn and co-create a dance to perform at our House Performing Arts Day. These sessions are led by our House Leaders with the support of staff. It is one of our biggest events for the year, and we are excited to see how each House interprets this year's theme. The House Performing Arts Showcase will be held in Week 10 on Thursday, 17 September and will serve as our showcase of learning for the term.

Students are welcome to wear their House tops on rehearsal days. Please see below for rehearsal session details.
