PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Welcome Back to Term 3!

Our students have made a strong start to semester two, engaging with their learning and reconnecting quickly with their peers on a social level. Many children have enjoyed beginning a new set of specialist programs. We welcome back Ms Andrews and Ms Gioules from leave and look forward to having Ms Wittmann back next week.  

New Support Programs

We have added a couple of extra student support programs this term, with year 2 numeracy extension and a junior school tutoring program, along with a dedicated sustainability program for various students in years 3, 4 and 5. These additional targeted programs are in place to meet the individual needs of our students. 

Year 6 Electives

Our senior students are fortunate to have six new elective subjects on offer this term. The year 6s selected from a range of topics including The Amazing Race, Around the World and Health: Mind & Body. 

Students attend a 100 minute double session every Thursday throughout this term. Moving into term 4 they will have the opportunity to reselect from a new set of topics. This program is an excellent introduction to the way many of them will select subjects when they get to year 7.

Holiday Projects

During the term break the following projects were completed:

Landscaping

The garden beds adjacent to the basketball courts have been planted out with new trees and shrubs

Eave Replacement

The damaged eaves around all 16 portables have been replaced

Toilet Renovation

The year 5 and 6 girls toilets were upgraded. Boys will be completed soon.

Classroom Upgrades

Rooms 3-23, 3-24, 3-29 and 3-30 were painted, with new pinboards, blinds and whiteboards installed 

New Furniture

We have continued to invest in new furniture for our classrooms. We are about to receive a delivery of new student tables for our year 1, 3 and 4 rooms. This is in addition to those now in use in prep and year 2. The upper school is next on the agenda in term 4. A final delivery of student locker tubs for the year 5s and new portable whiteboards for year 2 will mean that the whole school has had an upgrade of these items.

Industrial Action

Thank you to all of our families for your support yesterday as we adapted to the circumstances around the industrial action relating to the latest agreement between the government and education staff. Your patience and preparedness to follow the plan in place was much appreciated.

Hooptime Basketball Tournament

Our year 5 and 6 basketballers have been training intensively with Mr Scanu and Mr Dixon in preparation for Hooptime next Friday at Mill Park Stadium. We wish the 30 players all the best as they tackle the seven local schools in this round robin tournament. I am looking forward to seeing many parents there offering their support.
