Celebrating 100 Days of School

It has been a wonderful week of mathematical exploration at Westbreen, with our Foundation students celebrating 100 Days of School! I had the pleasure of joining them on Thursday afternoon to investigate the number 100. Students were challenged to collect and count 100 objects and investigate the question: “Will 100 fit in the jar?” They worked collaboratively to estimate, count, group and shared their mathematical thinking along the way. We have proudly displayed their collections in the Early Learning Centre.

Can You Make a Collection of 100?

We would love families to join the challenge! Students can bring a collection of 100 items from home to share at school. It could be 100 buttons, pasta pieces, blocks, LEGO pieces or anything else you can safely collect. Please bring your 100 items to school in a zip lock bag to Mrs Villani's office.  What will your 100 look like?

Westbreen Family Maths Challenge

A huge thank you to all our families who took part in our first Westbreen Family Maths Challenge! We were thrilled with the wonderful response from our school community and loved seeing families working together, sharing strategies and having fun with maths at home.
