100 Days of Foundation
Well done to our fantastic Foundation students who celebrated 100 days of school last week. It is truly amazing to see what our Foundation students have already learned - academic skills such as knowing their letters and sounds, developing number sense, reading and writing as well as social skills such as following our school routines, learning how to be a good friend and work with others. What incredible growth and progress we have seen. One of the Year 6 students asked me how many school days during their time at primary school? If each year is approximately 200 days of school - that makes around 1400 days at school from Foundation to Year 6!
5/6 Hoop Time
Congratulations to our 4 teams of year 5/6 students who attended Hoop Time last Thursday. Our students showed great sportsmanship and skill when playing in this interschool round robin competition. Both of our Future Stars teams made it to the finals! What a great achievement. A special congratulations to the Future Stars Girls team who won their competition.
Safe to School
A number of concerns have been raised about the traffic around our school. These include:
- speeding in the school zone
- parking across residents driveways
- doing u-turns in West Street and blocking traffic flow
- becoming impatient, beeping and making other motorists feel unsafe during pick up time
U-turns are prohibited in many school zones, particularly near crossings and intersections. Even where not explicitly banned, performing U-turns near schools can be risky due to reduced visibility and unpredictable pedestrian movement. Drivers should plan their routes to avoid the need for complex turning manoeuvres near school entrances.
Vic Roads also advises the following to promote safe drop off and pick up times at school.

Library Volunteers needed!
We are looking for a parent, family or community member who is interested in volunteering regularly each week (1-2 hours per week) in the library. We have so many beautiful resources but need help with covering and shelving books. If you aren't able to volunteer regularly, but could take some books home and cover them, that would also be a great help. If you are interested, or know anyone who would be, please let us know. A huge thank you to all the parents who have already taken books home to be covered! Your help is greatly appreciated!
Yours in education,
Megan Ganter
