Year 10 father-son workshop: "The Conversation about Modern Manhood" - An Evening with Dave Kramer

Year 10 students and their fathers are invited to our upcoming special event: "The Conversation about Modern Manhood" - An Evening with Dave Kramer.

What does it mean to be a man? It's a question our sons are already answering - shaped by sport, social media, their peers, and the men in their world. Teenage boys are navigating more than most of us realise: pressure to be tough; to 'have it together'; to not need anyone. Often, they're doing this alone — not because they don't want connection, but because the world has told them that going it alone is the only way to prove yourself. This workshop will create a different kind of space. Together with your son, you'll explore the unwritten rules of masculinity — where they come from, what they cost, and what we miss if we don’t expand our opportunities for manhood. You don't need to have it all figured out. In fact, it helps if you don't. Come as you are. Leave closer than you arrived.

About Dave Kramer

Dave Kramer is a behavioural scientist whose mission is to raise the standard of how men and boys show up for each other. Having spoken with tens of thousands of young men all over Australia (as well as thousands of fathers across multiple workforces), Dave hears all too often about the harmful unwritten rules, the need to fit in, and the feeling of being stuck in survival. None of these boys created the rules, and despite their objection to them, many of them still feel the pressure to play by them.

Navigating this pressure is harder than ever because young people today are facing unique challenges that the adults they look up to never had to face. The online world holds a powerful grip on their lives, and without open conversation, disrespect quickly thrives. Dave has a deep recognition that the boys he works with, and the people they look up to, want something better. The Conversation brings this shared feeling into perspective and creates an opportunity to connect, challenge the status quo, and set a standard that supports everyone to thrive.

• Venue: Staff Lounge, Trinity College

  • Pending bookings, the venue may change due to the need for a larger space to accommodate more guests. Registered attendees will be notified of any changes to the venue closer to the event.

• Cost: $10 pp (excl booking fees)

  • All proceeds from this event will be donated to Small Steps 4 Hannah, an Australian charity that works to raise awareness and educate the community to identify coercive control behaviours and halt the cycle of domestic and family violence.

• Other:

  • Year 10 students must be accompanied by their father/paternal guardian in order to attend this event.

  • Attendance is limited to current TC families in the Year 10 cohort.

PINC: 'The Village Around Your Child'

TC's PINC (Parents for the Inclusion of Neurodivergent Children) group invites families to save the date for their next event: "The Village Around Your Child": building knowledge, confidence and connection through understanding the people, plans and partnerships that help your child thrive throughout their TC journey.

Every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. As children grow, their strengths, needs and goals change. This session is designed to help parents and carers of students aged 8–17 understand the people, plans and partnerships that support their child throughout their school journey at Trinity College. 

Together, we will explore how support works, how it adapts over time, how to access help both within and outside of school, and what to do when things are not working as expected. Our aim is to build a strong TC community of informed and empowered families who feel confident in navigating support and partnering with the school to help their child succeed.
