Voice of the Students

Year 1 Learning 

This term the Year 1 students have enjoyed developing their understanding of Place Value and partitioning numbers. Daily practice with using a partitioning template and counters, has supported the students in building their fluency of partitioning one- and two-digit numbers. The students have also enjoyed hands-on learning of measurement, using informal unit and balance scales to measure the length and mass of different objects. 

The students have enjoyed identifying the difference between facts and opinions, as they explore the informative texts. In Religion, the students are exploring the creation stories in the bible and and retelling what God did on each of the seven days. They enjoyed reflecting on God’s creation, as we completed our lesson outside, in our beautiful Peace Garden, sharing responses of what we can see, hear, feel and smell, and what we are grateful for in their own lives.
