Dear Marian Catholic College Community,
It is hard to believe it is only Week 4 as it certainly has been a busy and action-packed couple of weeks across all year groups.
First, I would like to congratulate our Year 12 students on completing their Trial Examinations and the commendable focus and dedication they demonstrated throughout this high-pressure period. They are now entering the final stretch of their school journey. A special note of gratitude goes to Mrs. Norris and her supervision team. Managing trial exams is no small feat, and their hard work provided a structured, and supportive environment for our students to perform at their best.
Running a vibrant school community relies on the dedication of many staff and leaders behind the scenes. I want to extend a sincere thank you to ourYear 12 Pastoral Leader Ms Reynolds and our Leader of Curriculum. Their ongoing support for Year 12 —both academically and pastorally—and their organisation across recent events, has been fantastic. Thank you also to Mrs Jenkins (Inclusive and Diverse Learning), for additional support for qualifying students.
There are still a number of weeks to go before Year 12 conclude their studies at Marian (and secondary school) in Week 10. These next few weeks are very important weeks for Year 12. The students will be completing and presenting major works, undergoing practical exams and performances, and undertaking important revision of Year 12 studies before their final events and ceremonies and the HSC.
Stage 6 Subject Selections
Marian recently hosted the Year 10 Subject Selection Fair, which was a great success. It was wonderful to see so many engaging conversations about the future as students and the KLA leaders and teachers explored the options for Stage 6 subject selections.
To our Year 10 students: as you make your final subject choices for Year 11 and attend your day of interviews this Friday 14th, I wish you all the very best. Take your time, talk with your teachers, and choose pathways that inspire your passion and align with your future goals. Thank you also to all the families, leaders and teachers supporting them today and to the KLA, curriculum and pastoral staff assisting students with these processes and vital conversations.
School Counselling Services
Welcome to Ms Rebekah Madill, our new Thrive Counsellor, who will be joining the team at Marian in Week 5. Rebekah will be attending initial inductions at the Thrive Offices on Banna Street next Monday and Tuesday, and will be on campus from Wednesday 19th. Her office is located in the Student Wellbeing Corridor in the Marian Administration Centre. Rebekah will support the school from Monday to Friday each week, during term time. Georgia Green will continue to provide counselling services to students weekly each Monday and Tuesday.
Parents and carers who may wish to contact Rebekah regarding specific concerns are advised to reach out first to Pastoral Year Leaders or Mrs Tricia Star (Leader of the Student Wellbeing and Pastoral Care) for information regarding the school referral process.
