NAPLAN Results

Our school NAPLAN results are in, and individual student reports are available from the office for families who have not yet collected them.

Across the school, we are seeing some really positive trends in our NAPLAN data that are worth celebrating as a community.

As someone who is particularly passionate about writing, I was thrilled to see our Year 3 students performing 8% above the state average in the Strong and Exceeding proficiency levels for Writing. What an incredible achievement for our students and teachers!

Our work in mathematics is also shining through. In Year 5 Numeracy, we are 5% above schools in our network for the proportion of students achieving in the Strong and Exceeding proficiency levels. This is another fantastic result and reflects the sustained work happening in our classrooms.

We are also seeing encouraging trends when we look at student growth over time. Many students who were identified as Needing Additional Support in their Year 3 NAPLAN are moving into the Developing proficiency level and, in some cases, reaching the Strong proficiency level by their Year 5 testing. This is particularly worth celebrating because it demonstrates the progress students can make over two years through our targeted teaching, intervention, support and (most importantly) their own persistence and effort.

NAPLAN is, of course, only one measure of student achievement. It captures student performance on a standardised assessment at one point in time and can never tell the complete story of a child's learning. However, our results provide another opportunity to recognise that our students are performing strongly in a number of areas when compared with both the state and similar schools in our network. So, amid the annual headlines and conversations that surround NAPLAN, we think there is something much more important worth talking about: the hard work of our teachers and the incredible effort, persistence and growth shown by our students.

That is something our whole school community should be proud of.
