Bringing Antarctica to MKC

The Kaleidoscope – Antarctica program recently concluded with an incursion from the Mawson’s Huts Foundation’s Mobile Antarctic Classroom. Throughout the Kaleidoscope program, students have learned about the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration, scientific issues facing the continent, and have got hands-on with ice cores.

Students enjoyed the opportunity to choose their own adventure with the Mobile Antarctic Classroom and explore different aspects of Antarctica’s wildlife, politics, and science.

Recently, our MKC Mob joined with First Nations students from Corpus Christi Catholic School and St John's Catholic School for a day of activities at the Waterworks reserve. The students participated in rope making, painting, dancing and a bushwalk, learning about nature and bush foods.

Before finishing the day, they enjoyed lunch made by Djuker Hart, which included Kangaroo, wallaby and chicken burgers.

What a fantastic day and a great way to celebrate our ongoing partnership with Corpus Christi and St John's.

Bunnings Team Trade

Our 2027 Trade Readiness Program students recently travelled to Bunnings for their first activity as a class.

MacKillop is thrilled to have an ongoing partnership with our local Mornington Bunnings as part of their Teen Trade Program, where students can assist in building and assembling items for the wider community.

Using their growing knowledge and skills to builkd a cubbyhouse, this was a great opportunity for the upcoming class to get to know each other and start out with some light trade activities and practice their teamwork.
