Japan Day!
What an incredible day we had last friday at Japan Day. There was so much excitement throughout the day, with students being involved in a range of Japan-themed activities. The Scotsburn students did an incredible job mixing in with the Buninyong students and classes across all year levels. A huge well done to Mrs Morgan and Mrs Cray for all of their hard work in planning, preparing and running such a successful event. It sure is a highlight of the year!
SC2 Raising Rarity Excursion - this Thursday 7th May
This Thursday, SC2 will be involved in a half day excursion to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens to learn all about rare native plant species. This excursion will also be with the Buninyong STEM Scholarship students and will be run in conjunction with the Royal Botanical Gardens Victoria.
The excursion will form the beginning of a very special project that we have been invited to be part of, which is called Raising Rarity. As part of the program, we will be assisting the Royal Botanical Gardens in growing extremely rare plant species right here on our campus, so that later in the year their seed can be harvested to help build the numbers of these rare plant species.
Our Scotsburn students will be involved in the whole process, from planting and caring for, to the final stage of harvesting.
There is no cost to this excursion, however if you are yet to provide consent, please do on Compass this week.
We will start the day at Buninyong, and finish back at Scotsburn with normal pick-up arrangements.
How exciting!
Scotsburn Mothers’ Day Breakfast - this Friday 8th May
We once again look forward to celebrating all of our wonderful mothers and special friends in the Scotsburn community with a Mothers’ Day Breakfast. This event will be separate from the Buninyong Mothers’ Day breakfast.
This special occasion will take place next Friday 8th May, between 8:15am and 9:30am in the old building, Scotsburn. No need to bring anything, we will have all food and drink sorted, celebrating all of the wonderful contributions our mothers and special friends play in our lives.
Hopefully you received a personal invite yesterday from your child. If your child was absent, they will make one in the next few days. We would love every student at Scotsburn to have a visitor in the morning!
School Photos
Awesome job everyone with completing our school photos last week at Buninyong. Thank you to everyone that has ordered photos through Compass. For those that haven’t, you can still purchase photos via the portal. Alternatively, you can call the MSP office directly on 5333 5577 and place an order over the phone.
A late fee will apply to orders that are made after initial orders have been sent to the printing lab, so don’t delay if you are planning to place an order.
We expect the photos to arrive in 3 to 4 weeks.
Mother’s Day Stall - this Friday 8th May
Our annual Scotsburn Mother’s Day stall is back! This is an opportunity for our students to express and learn more about gratitude, as well as giving thanks to the Mums or other significant people in their lives.
All gifts are $5, with students having the opportunity to purchase one or two gifts. Don’t forget to send some money along with your child this Friday.
We have an assortment of items to choose from that the students think our Mums would like… we can’t give too many clues away!
Scotsburn Learning Snapshot - Spelling Mastery
This term we have begun our Spelling Mastery program, complementing our Sounds Write spelling in the junior years. With multiple groups happening each day across the campus, students have undertaken the program with great enthusiasm and enjoyment. This spelling program is all about students achieving mastery and feeling successful with their spelling. Well done everyone on making such a great start with the program.
Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
