Respectful Relationships Education at CSPS

Positive Coping

As part of our learning about Respectful Relationships, the Year 3s explored positive coping strategies that can help them manage strong emotions, solve problems calmly, and make respectful choices. Together, we discussed how everyone experiences challenging feelings at times, and having healthy coping tools can help us respond in positive ways.

Students created their own "toolbox” of coping strategies, including ideas such as reading a book, getting a drink of water, taking deep breaths, talking to a trusted adult, drawing, spending time with a friend, listening to music or taking a short break. By practising these strategies, students are building important skills for managing emotions, maintaining positive relationships, and supporting their wellbeing both at school and at home.

We encourage families to continue these conversations at home by discussing coping strategies and helping children identify the tools that work best for them.
