Child Safety Standard 9: Safe Physical and Online Environments

At St Peter’s College, the safety and wellbeing of every student is our highest priority. Child Safety Standard 9 requires schools to create physical and online environments that promote safety, wellbeing and inclusion while minimising opportunities for harm.

This means regularly identifying and managing risks in classrooms, playgrounds, sporting facilities, camps, excursions and digital learning environments. It also requires schools to ensure that students can learn, connect and access technology safely, while maintaining their right to privacy, information and positive social interactions. 

At St Peter’s College, we implement this standard through regular risk assessments, supervision practices, child-safe design of learning and recreational spaces, online safety education, and clear expectations for appropriate digital conduct. Our Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy and Child Safety Code of Conduct help staff identify and manage potential risks in both physical and online settings. We also require third-party providers, School Advisory Committee members and contractors to meet child safety requirements when volunteering or delivering services to the College.
