Volleyball State Final

The girls travelled over to Dandenong to meet up with the top teams from statewide. We started with Korumburra defeating them 20/15, 20/12. Next was one of the high profile volleyball schools, Monbulk. We started off aggressively winning the first set 20/13, however the opposition captain had a hot serving period in set 2 helping them to a win 16/20, deflating us a bit. The third set went quick with a 5/15 loss. Our 3rd match was against a very confident McKinnon SC who we lost to 9/20, 10/20 enabling them to go undefeated in our pool. The girls did incredibly well against some pretty good opposition who compete in these teams outside school and in other school competitions. On a super positive note, the girls received an award that is new to School Sport competitions – the SPIRIT OF SPORT award – for the way they played the game in the spirit of sportspersonship, fun, enjoyment, positive attitude and respect to each other and the opposition. This was chosen by the convenor assisted by any nominations from the opposition or observers.
