At the annual Division Cross Country event held at H.E Parker Reserve in Heathmont on Tuesday May 27th, just under 40 students from years 7-12 ran their hearts out over a 3km or 5km distance.
Nothing demonstrated the persistence & resilience of the group more than year 12 student Rasheed completing the 3km distance with the aid of his walker, which was the first time that he’d done this - an absolutely fantastic effort & a testament to his mindset!
Other highlights came from the year 10’s, with Perri winning her age group, who was closely followed by Deanna in 3rd, with a huge improvement compared to last year. Haydn also backed up his strong run at House Cross Country with a 3rd place finish in his age group.
Well done to all attendees for the way in which they gave their all, supported their peers & represented Mullauna with such positivity!
Those who finished in the top 15 runners in their age groups at the Division Cross Country event automatically qualified for the Regional Cross Country event, which was held at the Yarra Valley Racecourse in Yarra Glen on Thursday June 12th. Well done to Kaitlyn, Aya, James F, Adabelle, Austin, Perri, Noah H, Amelia L, Haydn, Mitch, Liam, Daniel, Jimmy & Lucy for representing Mullauna at this higher level of competition!
In equally-impressive runs, Perri & Deanna (year 10) were the only two Mullauna students who qualified for the next level of competition; the State Cross Country, to be held on Thursday July 24th. This is the third consecutive year that Perri has progressed through to the State Cross Country championships, & the first for Deanna; we wish both girls the very best for this event early next term!
