On Thursday June 5th, Mullauna’s best year 8 Netballers competed at Waverley District against various other schools within the Mullum Division.
The B team (Addy, Chloe T, Georgia, Molly, Judy & Mya) were up against it from the start, with only 6 players to begin with, before pocket rocket Chloe sustained an ankle injury & was unable to continue, despite bravely trying to. Whilst not ideal, the team showed clear improvement with each game, with Mya looking the most promising in front of the ring. At the opposite end of the court, Judy was resolute in defence, & Addy was a Jill-of-all trades in the Centre, WA & even GK.
In the A team (Lucy B, Amy R, Layla K, Michelle, Siena M, Holly & Riona), things were a bit easier with the full complement of 7 players, which made for some more free-flowing Netball. Lucy’s fitness stood out in the Centre, who didn’t stop running all game to provide an option for her teammates. Amy was also everywhere on the court in every game, whilst sharpshooter Siena looked as though she simply couldn’t miss, scoring 5 goals in 1 game against Templestowe despite a jarred finger.
Well done to everyone for giving their all in each & every game & never giving up!
On the same day, Mullauna fielded 6 Badminton teams to compete against the likes of Ashwood, Auburn, Heathmont, Forest Hill, Templestowe & Warrandyte. The girls B1 team (Ariel, Jasmine L, Julie & Adabelle) won all of their games & the B2 team (Christina, Sofie & Delara) finished 3rd in their pool. The B1 boys team (Koby W, Ethan, Seth, Liam L & Kevin) won their pool & the B2 team (Evander, Darren, Noah F, Tyler & Jarvis) came 3rd overall. Congratulations to the A1 boys team (Xavier E, Maushuf, Josh R, Sheldon & Alex T) who won all their games & then won their final against Auburn, meaning they’ll now represent the school at Regionals on Friday the 15th of August!
Mullauna’s year 7 Soccer teams toiled hard all day at Terrara Park on Monday June 2nd.
The B team (Olive, Anneliese, Finn, Lance, Harley, Polly, Ally, Ebony R, Lila, Baran M, Jack L, Lachie R, Bodhi & Arthur) worked their way into their matches, with Olive providing security in defence, & Finn scoring a last-minute consolation goal against Ashwood in their first game of the day. Ebony also rose to the occasion in the midfield, by chasing & putting pressure on the opposition’s players, whilst Lila impressed greatly when she pulled the gloves on! Arthur was one of the hardest runners on the team today, linking defence to attack on numerous occasions, which didn’t go unnoticed.
In the A team (Adam A, Masih, Dom, Marius, Aidan, Harry T, Charlie T, Will V, Henry, George & Tom C) Louis Adam’s tireless repeat efforts on the wing to dribble his way past defenders was sensational, as he ran continuously all day, eventually leading to a well-deserved goal against Forest Hill. Masih also showed his quick feet in midfield & was duly rewarded with a well-taken penalty goal.
5 consecutive matches without a break ultimately took their toll however, as they lost to Templestowe in the semi-final.
Everyone should be proud of the way in which they represented both themselves & Mullauna.
Special thanks to the student coaching duo of Lucy B & Lucy I for their wisdom, experience & coaching acumen!
What an amazing day at the year 7 interschool Netball competition! The girls A1 team (Jeyda, Millie, Jasmine, Lani, Amarni, Nataliya, Sierra & Charlotte) went undefeated, displaying fantastic determination across all of their games. The girls A2 team (Maddie, Bella, Ivy S, Angelina, Isla, Maria, Sierra & Kalilla) showed great teamwork & resilience throughout the day, coming away with one win.
The girls B1 team (Siena H, Indi, Grace H, Ebony K, Chelsea, India, Reya & Rinka) improved with each game & came away with 4 wins from 5 games.
A big thank you to our year 8 student coaches - Michelle, Holly, Addy & Ally - for their awesome coaching & support!
