Year 4

Year 4 Update
It has been a great start to the year in Year 4. Students have done a fantastic job settling into the structures and routines of their new learning community in the portables and have enjoyed getting to know their new teachers and Education Support staff. There have been many highlights including our first incursion where students got the chance to engage in a variety of team-based challenges and activities. Within Core Literacy, students have built upon their knowledge of morphemes and spelling patterns with the next level of Word Origins.
In English, students have enjoyed examining Local Government, as well as learning about laws, rules and the voting process in Australia. We had a deep dive into heroes and villains with a close look at Australian icon, Ned Kelly, and students have loved the chance this week to experiment with narrative writing.
In Numeracy, we have examined a variety of concepts including addition and subtraction strategies, place value and probability. Everyone has shown tremendous resilience with the new challenge set in Year 4, working hard and embracing the Learning Pit to explore and trial different strategies and problem-solving processes.
It has been an action packed start to Year 4 and we are looking forward to ending the term on a positive note.
