TRADES

Matthew.Depiazzi@education.wa.edu.au

It has been another busy and productive week across the workshop, with students continuing to develop their skills in each area. As the term progresses, it’s pleasing to see students becoming more comfortable in the workshop environment and taking ownership of their work.

Building and Construction

Across this area, Year 12 students have continued their personal project work, including picnic tables, garden bed hot houses and garden arbours. These projects help students build the foundational skills required for construction work.

Metals and Engineering

In the Metals and Engineering, students have been working through a range projects, including ute trays, fire pits and trailers. This has involved preparing materials, cutting, grinding, welding and fabricating using the hydraulic press brake.

Furnishings

Year 12 students are currently working on a range of furniture pieces such as cheval mirrors, dining tables and bar stools. These projects allow students to apply the skills they have developed throughout the course while focusing on accuracy and attention to detail.

The students have continued building their knowledge in the workshop on procedures and vehicle systems.

I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable weekend.
