Horticulture
Four students entered the School Cooking Challenge at the Wagin Woolorama, using lamb supplied by the Sheep section and vegetables grown by the Horticulture section.
The culinary talents of the students from Narrogin Agricultural College proved tough competition this year, but our students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are already looking forward to rising to the challenge again next year.
Celebrity chef Don Hancey was very supportive and provided excellent guidance to the students throughout the event. Well done to Mr Lawrence for leading this initiative and for promoting cooking and value‑adding using produce from the Horticulture section.

In addition to the competition, the Horticulture section showcased a display of sunflowers, fresh produce, and a range of value-added products, including condiments.
Beef
Continuing with the Woolorama results, students also participated in Cattle Judging;
Beef Judging - 3rd Issabella Cuthbertson

Calving for the 2026 season has also begun, with the first calves starting to be born.

Grain
Grain Judging - 1st Maddison Gibson, 2nd Logan Panizza and 3rd Brianna Maher.

Dairy
There has been a strong start to Cattle Club training this week, with 30 students attending the Wednesday after-school training with the heifers. It was great to see such strong participation.
During these sessions, students learn essential cattle‑handling skills, including tying heifers, using halters and leads, and safely walking animals in preparation for the upcoming Agricultural Shows. Training also includes instruction in cattle judging and helping students build confidence in the show ring.

Despite the additional training activities, Dairy operations have continued as normal. This week included drafting 17 cows for sale and vaccinating in‑calf heifers and springers, with valuable involvement from the Cert III students. Meeting with industry advisers from Semex to support ongoing herd improvement and planning.
Equine
Students participated in camp drafting exercises during after-school training, using student horses and school cattle.

Pigs
The pigs are progressing well, with an average weight of 14 kg.

Poultry
Poultry operations continued as normal this week with routine care and management.
