Region Athletics

Essex Heights and the Monash Waverley Division were proudly represented by five students at the Eastern Metropolitan Region Athletics at the Tom Kelly Athletics Track in Doncaster on Thursday 19 October. The competition was challenging, involving many schools from eight divisions, with 16 competitors in each event. Congratulations to Alexandra K, Josh C, Ryan W, Jayan C and Jordan J for their amazing achievements! Thank you to the families for their support on the day and to John Colley for training the relay team. 

Ms Hocking

On the 19th October, Josh, Ryan, Jayan, Jordan and I competed in the Region Athletics at the Doncaster Athletics Track. I ended up coming 8th in the triple jump, jumping 7.86 metres. Even though I didn’t make State finals I am very proud of my achievements.   Alexandra

 

I competed in the Region Athletics as part of the relay team. I would like to thank Ms Hocking and my parents for the help and support. It was a really fun experience and in the end my team came fourth in our race.   Jordan 

 

I was the last runner in the relay team. There were some very fast teams, and it was challenging. Thank you to my Mum and Dad for their support and to Dad for coaching us.   Jayan 

 

I ran first in the relay team. After running the relay, I also competed in the high jump against fifteen other boys. I enjoyed the experience. Thanks to Mum, Gran and Ms Hocking for supporting me.   Josh

 

I ran second in the relay team. Before the relay I competed in the 9/10 year old long jump. I was really proud that I placed fourth out of 18. I wanted to thank Ms Hocking for her support and Dad for driving me.    Ryan 

Division Basketball Finals

On 11th October Division finals were at Nunawading Basketball Stadium. We competed against some talented schools. Sadly, we didn’t make the finals, but I genuinely think we played amazingly. Our team consisted of Aria, Isabelle G N, Diya, Zerrin, Georgia, Celeste, Angela and me. Good job to everyone.    Alexandra 

 

Since we won the District finals, we qualified into another basketball competition on the 14th November, which is the Region Hooptime finals. 

Thank you to Ms Hocking, Ms Kemp and Aria’s dad for coaching and supporting us through our sporting journey. I can’t wait for November.    Angela

The girls played very well against some tough opposition, showing fantastic sportsmanship and teamwork at the Monash Waverley Division Basketball Finals on Wednesday 11 October. Thanks to the families for their support on the day, cheering and transporting. Special thank you to Michael Green for coaching the team. Well done everyone!
