The AMT Australian Mathematics Competition was a great success at Essex Heights with 145 entrants. Students participated in a written mathematics assessment, containing 30 mathematics problems (25 multiple choice and 5 integer problems), in August. Problems consisted of a range of topics including:
- Basic arithmetic
- Fractions and ratios
- Algebra and pre-algebra
- Geometry
- Measurement
- Statistics and probability
- Problem-solving (including enumeration)
We had 145 entrants in Years 3 to 6, and students have now been presented with their awards for their efforts. Out of these 145, 7 received Participation certificates, 38 received Proficiency, 51 were awarded a Credit, and 44 received a Distinction. Five students received a Certificate of High Distinction; congratulations to Lucas Z, Vincent J, Tanush R, James A and Kebo Z. Our top award, Best in School, was given to Lucas Z.
We would like to congratulate all participants for striving to accomplish this mathematics challenge.
