St Brigid's College is a subscriber to the study skills website www.studyskillshandbook.com.au
This is a website that will help you develop essential skills for academic success. There are units of work on topics such as improving time management skills, how to study, research skills, summarizing, technology use, brain. and memory. Basically, everything students need to know about becoming a powerful learner can be found on this site. For example, learn how the colour of your room affects your ability to study, what the best study techniques are for your type of brain, how to improve your handwriting, and useful software and apps to block yourself from technology distractions.
You will also see lots of useful handouts, grids, and planners at the bottom of the THINGS TO PRINT page.
To access the handbook, go to www.studyskillshandbook.com.au and login with these details:
Our school’s username: stbrigids
Our school’s password: sbcstudy
The more of this website you can work through the more you will set yourself up for academic success. Attached is a sheet where you can record the login details as well as your personal tracking details when you set them up for the quizzes.
More information can be found on the handout below. Keep an eye on more hints and tips in our newsletters!
Last week, St Brigid’s College staff participated in a series of Professional Learning days, guided by the Diocese of Ballarat Catholic Education Limited 2035 Strategic Plan.
On Tuesday, staff travelled to Halls Gap to work with Leading Teams, take time to reconnect, and share a meal together against the backdrop of the Grampians.
On Wednesday, staff joined Marian College, Ararat, for a day of cross-school collaboration. The day began with a Liturgy, followed by a presentation from Brigidine Sisters, Sr Jacinta, Sr John, and Sr Maree, who shared the Brigidine story and its relevance to our shared Catholic mission.
The afternoon was dedicated to professional networking and collaborative learning, highlighting the impact of educators learning together to drive whole-school improvement and enhance student outcomes.
Today, staff focused on curriculum and assessment development and attended a specialised session on School Wide Positive Behaviour Support.
We're pleased to share that our Brigidine Cross photo from earlier this year has featured on the March edition of the 'Our Diocesan Community' magazine!
