Principal's Report

Dear families,
It is with deep sorrow that we join the Catholic community in mourning the passing of Pope Francis. A calm, compassionate, humble, and courageous shepherd, Pope Francis truly embodied the Gospel’s call for mercy. At a time when there are voices of hate and exclusion on the world stage, Francis was a voice of peace and inclusion.
In his Letter to the World, where he proclaimed 2025 the Jubilee Year - Pilgrims of Hope, he opened with a powerful message:
To all who read this letter, may hope fill your hearts.
He went on to offer a simple yet profound definition of hope:
A desire and expectation of good things to come, without knowing what the future will bring.
As we await the election of a new Pope, may we continue to live as people of hope, bringing light and encouragement to all we encounter.
On this coming Monday, 5 May, we open the school for tours and information sessions for new and prospective families. I ask that you help spread the word among your networks and assist us in promoting St Brigid’s College as the school of choice.
The new refurbishment is progressing well and on time. We hope to move into Stage 1 by the middle of this year, which will provide our students with comfortable spaces to gather in in addition to new bathrooms for all students.
Last week, between Easter Monday and ANZAC Day, the staff at St Brigid’s met in Halls Gap and Ararat to further develop our strategic plan and to collaborate with teachers from Marian College. This provided opportunities for our staff to enhance their knowledge and work together with teachers from Marian to strengthen their curriculum and pedagogical techniques. Now we look to establishing routines for the students that will enhance their learning.
Finally, I draw your attention to the inclusion in today’s newsletter that seeks families to consider taking a foster child, as there is a real demand for foster families in Horsham and the Wimmera at the moment.
Stay safe,
Gerard
