Long Service Leave
I would like to inform the school community that I will be on leave from Monday 7 September until Friday 18 September. I will be heading to Europe to be with my grandmother who will be celebrating her 100th birthday as well as soaking up what is left of the Euro Summer Sun. I wish all the families a wonderful last couple of weeks of Term 3 and a restful spring break. Ms Julie Hall will be acting principal during my absence and I have full confidence in her leading the school during this time.
We want our Parents/Carers to tell us What they Think!
Our school is conducting the annual Parent/Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to celebrate our strengths and to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
Thank you to the families who have already completed the survey. We are aiming to have a minimum of 100 completed surveys.
The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Wednesday 19 August to Friday 18 September 2026.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

2027 Learning Partners
It is that time of the year that we start planning for 2027 classes. Each year we invite you and your child to consider who would make suitable learning partners by suggesting up to 5 students in their year level. Whilst we acknowledge that students often like to be placed in a class with their friends, sometimes they do not make the best learning partners and we invite you to discuss this with your child/ren.

We aim to set up each year for success, for students and teachers. This means that as well as making sure that all students have at least one of their nominated learning partners, we also endeavour to ensure that there is a balance of personalities, academic abilities, interests and preferences in each class. We are not able to take request for teachers.
We also acknowledge that in certain cases, some students are not a good fit together in a class. If there is someone you think your child should not be placed with please email toorak.ps@education.vic.gov.au with your child's name, current class and a short explanation by Friday 18 September. Please do not assume that requests from previous years are sufficient information - we acknowledge that relationships, behaviours and interactions change from year to year.
Leaving TPS? Moving House? Moving Overseas? Visa Expiring?
If you have any intentions to unfortunately leave TPS in the next 6 months, please let the school office know. Your decision doesn't need to be confirmed and doesn't mean your child loses their spot if you change your mind, but giving us a heads up is very helpful. This information is vital for the school to budget and plan for staffing in 2027. We don't want any children to be placed in classes that are too big or only have a few students, but this relies on us knowing who will be here. If you suspect you may be moving house, travelling overseas or you know your visa is expiring, please inform the school via email: toorak.ps@education.vic.gov.au at your earliest convenience.
Book Week at TP — A Symphony of Stories!
Hold onto your bookmarks, because Book Week 2026 at Toorak Primary was nothing short of EPIC!
This year's theme, "Symphony of Stories" , wasn't just a title - it was a promise, and our incredible school community delivered in the most spectacular fashion.
The excitement began with our Parent Open Morning, where families were swept through the school on a visual feast of creativity. Every classroom door had been transformed into a stunning storybook scene - colourful, clever, and completely captivating.
And then came the moment we all wait for - the Book Week Dress Up Parade! The schoolyard absolutely exploded with colour as beloved characters from across the literary universe sprang to life. Classic heroes, modern legends, beloved villains, and quirky creatures - every costume told a story, and every face was beaming with pride.
Book Week at TPS is so much more than costumes and celebrations. It's a reminder of the extraordinary power of a great story - to spark imagination, build confidence, and ignite a love of reading that lasts a lifetime.
To our brilliant students, dedicated staff, and wonderfully enthusiastic families - THANK YOU. You made the magic happen. Now go read something amazing!
The ART SHOW is almost here!
Get ready to be amazed - our much-anticipated Biannual Art Show is just around the corner, and this year it is going to be truly spectacular!
Under the brilliant guidance of Ms Reynolds, our young artists have spent the year pouring their hearts, creativity, and talent into a stunning collection of artworks that are ready to wow you. From bold masterpieces to delicate creations, there is something to make every family beam with pride.

Come along, wander through the gallery, and celebrate the extraordinary artistic talent right here in our school community.
And here's something extra special - you can take a piece of it home! Families will have the opportunity to pre-purchase their child's artwork, which will be beautifully framed and delivered after the show. What a perfect keepsake - or gift idea!
Every entry ticket sold and every artwork purchased goes directly towards our new Art Room Kiln - a huge community goal we are incredibly close to achieving, thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our families throughout the year. Your support is also helping us update the deck seating, creating even better spaces for our students. Thank you - it truly means the world!
To make the evening even more fun, TheirCare have kindly stepped up to sponsor and run a Sausage Sizzle, and EMF together with our wonderful Junior School Council will be serving up refreshing lemonade at their very own Lemonade Stand. It's going to be a fantastic community night!

Rosh Hashanah — Wishing Our Jewish Families a Sweet New Year
On Friday 11 September, our Jewish families and community members will begin celebrating Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year - one of the most significant and joyful occasions in the Jewish calendar.
Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on Friday 11 September and concludes at sundown on Sunday 13 September. It is a time of reflection, celebration, and hope for the year ahead, traditionally marked with family gatherings, the sounding of the shofar, and the sweet taste of apples and honey - symbolising wishes for a sweet new year.
To all of our families observing this special time, we warmly wish you Shanah Tovah - a happy, healthy, and sweet New Year.
Student Safety - Drop off and Pick Up
A reminder to all families that our school yard is supervised from 8:45am each morning. There is an increasing number of students who are arriving before this time and are being left unsupervised. If your child is coming to school before this time, they must be in the care of a supervising adult. Students arriving at 8:45am must remain on the school grounds until class time. We have seen a small number of students leave the school grounds during this time, and for their safety we kindly ask that your children remain on the school site.
The same goes for the afternoons, the school grounds are supervised until 3:45pm at which time students who have not been collected will be directed to wait in the admin foyer or taken to TheirCare. The safest time for students to we walking home is between 3:30 and 3:45pm when there are a larger number of people around. Staying back at school to play is always fun, but when unsupervised this can be a concern. We appreciate you all working together to keep our students and community safe.
