From the Art Room

Tahlia Burrows - Art Captain
"As Art Captain, I have enjoyed creating artwork collaboratively with students and teachers. I have recently designed art plaques to name and describe art pieces across the school. As captain, I have been busy working with other captains to paint festival signage and prepare festival decorations." Tahlia 6S
Prep Painting and Printmaking
This Terms focus for Prep Art has been painting and print making. Students have explored painting with a variety of tools and materials such as brushes, rollers, bubble wrap, cardboard and cartons while exploring watercolour and acrylic paint. Early in the term, students developed an awareness of painting on abstract surfaces whilst painting a collaborative cardboard installation. This is on display in the hallway at the top of the stairs in the main office building.
"I feel happy, artistic and calm in the Art Room" Charlotte, Prep DC
Year 1 and 2 Textiles
Year 1 and 2 students have been busy exploring the art of sewing through their textiles unit. Students began with an annotated design in their Art folios, transferring their design to a piece of hessian on an embroidery hoop. Each week, they built on their confidence and skills around sewing and stitching, adding pipe cleaners, wool, bead and button sculptures, felt and making their own tassels. Students have been reflective of the art elements involved and confidently explained their choices.

Year 3 and 4 Construction
Year 3 and 4 students have explored construction through different materials and guidelines. Recently, they have explored form and shape through building with pegs, popsicle sticks, straws and cardboard with slots. The open-ended tasks has seen creativity expand and new experiences learnt.
