Junior School Update - Week 1, Term 2
A warm welcome to Term Two! This term is an exciting term in the junior school with ‘Cosmodone’ the planetarium visiting on Tuesday, May 5th. This experience will supplement our whole school Science unit this term. The planetarium is an engaging experience for the students and one they will treasure.
The Fire Fighters will be back at school for the highly anticipated ‘Fire Truck’ visit. I know the Preps are very excited!
On Wednesday, May 27th, our junior school will come together in the hall to take part in Simultaneous Story Time. National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is an annual Australian event where, in May, one Australian children's book is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, and homes nationwide to promote reading for enjoyment.
The 2026 event features Luna Roo: the Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson, Adrian Lloyd, and Jake Minton. Students will listen to the story and then complete a craft activity.
Term Two will conclude with our annual Friendship Fair Day. This day is an opportunity for students to have fun, work collaboratively and engage in a real world social justice initiative, our sponsorship of Ellie at St Jude’s in Tanzania. There will be more information closer to the date about our partnership with St Jude’s.
As Term Two starts, it is a great opportunity to reestablish before school and after school routines. It often takes a few weeks for everyone to adjust back to these routines. I have found it helpful with my children to have a printout of their timetable in their bedroom and a checklist of what they need for each day. Each evening, we have 5 minutes to check this and pack bags accordingly. You may find this helpful. See below my example.
