In the Teaching and Learning space, we have been focusing on getting to know our students as learners. English assessments have been taking place across the school. These assessments help us identify each student’s starting point so we can provide the best possible support in 2026.
To do this effectively, we use a tiered approach to intervention:
Tier 1 – High-quality, whole-class instruction that every student accesses daily.
Tier 2 – Targeted small-group intervention for students who need additional support.
- In Foundation, this may include NELI – An Oral Language Skills Program.
- In Years 1 and 2, this may include MiniLit Sage, a reading intervention program.
- In Years 3–6, this may include MacqLit, also a reading intervention program.
There are other forms of Tier 2 support provided across the school; however, these are our main programs.
Tier 3 – Intensive, individualised intervention delivered by specialists such as a Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, or Learning Specialist.
This tiered structure ensures that every student receives the level of support they need to grow and succeed.
