Prayer & Catholic Identity

In a world marked by complexity, division, and noise, the biblical call to “Seek peace and pursue it” offers a profound and timely invitation—one that resonates deeply with the mission of Catholic Education in 2026. This phrase is not passive; it is a call to action. Peace is not merely something to hope for—it is something to actively chase, cultivate, and embody.
The Catholic Church observes Shrove Tuesday every year. It is the day before Ash Wednesday and traditionally it has been a chance to use up ingredients such as butter, cream and eggs in the household by making pancakes. People would then abstain from eating these foods for the period of Lent.
This week St. Joseph's celebrated our Ash Wednesday Liturgy with the children receiving a sign of the cross in ash on their forehead. Throughout history ash has been a powerful symbol of repentance. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent in our liturgical calendar. Lent is a time we are called to be more loving. Traditional Lent practices that can help us are Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. Lent is a time to prepare for Easter.
Loving God
Help us this Lent to make room for you in our days, in our minds and in our hearts.
May we like the disciples many years ago, go to 'our private room' - the still, silent part of ourselves - and wait humbly and quietly in prayer, until we hear your voice.
We ask these prayers through Christ our Lord.
Amen
We will commence our 2026 Sacramental Program on Tuesday 10th March at 5:00pm in our school library with an Information/ Formation Evening. We would like to invite any interested parents and their child/children to attend.
