Year 7-10 PCG Swimming Carnivals

Monday 10 February - Wednesday 12 February

Congratulations to all students for taking part in the annual swimming carnivals this week. It was inspiring to see so many students push themselves to get out of their comfort zone and compete with their PCG brothers as rivalries were reignited or created in 2025!

There were countless impressive swims but in a college that prides itself on nurturing ‘Men for Others’ it was fantastic to see the camaraderie amongst all students and particularly the new Year 7’s, especially when they were all chanting students name as they swam down the pool.

Special thanks to Miss Adelaide Garland (PSA Swimming Coach) for her support in organising students for the timing of events and my sincere gratitude goes to the many pastoral, administrative, grounds and Physical Education staff involved for their exceptional efforts and teamwork in ensuring the carnivals ran smoothly.

It was great to see so many parents at our carnivals, particularly for the Year 7’s, and we thank all parents and guardians for your support and hope to see even more in attendance next year!

3x3 Basketball Tournament

“The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.”  Phil Jackson

Another successful 3x3 tournament was held last Friday in the Sports Centre. It was a hot afternoon but that did not stop the determination of the teams battling out for the number 1 spot in 2025.  It was so lovely to see all the Year 7 basketballers form new teams and from that strong friendships were established.

The year 7s did not hold back continually challenging the year 8s and 9s with their fast moves and strategic plays. Congratulations to the winners United Nations who played a tough game against the runner up team Rys’s Puffs.

The afternoon was celebrated with great tunes, gallons of Gatorade, pizza and prizes.  The event could not be possible without the help of the 1st’ basketball team with them busting out some dance moves as they refereed the games.

A big thanks goes to the sponsors of the afternoon Old Boy Jack Gillespie for the supply of Gatorade, Compton’s Burgers for their generosity in vouchers, Matagarup Zip Climb, Adventure Word and Office Works.

2025 Paddle WA Canoe Sprint State Championships

Congratulations to Year 9 student Orlando Martino Da Fonseca who competed in the 2025 Paddle WA Canoe Sprint State Championships last weekend at Champions Lakes where he had some fantastic results!

He received Gold medals in the U16s men’s k1 200m and 500m, men’s k2 200m and mixed doubles, as well as silver medals in K1 1000m and K2 500m.

As part of the WASPs team (West Australian Sprint Pathways) through WAIS Orlando is now heading over to Penrith this Wednesday, 19 February to compete in the 2025 Canoe Sprint Grand Prix where he will be competing nationally.

We are incredibly proud of his efforts and results. What an achievement Orlando and good luck next week!
